How to Use Inside Micrometer

Step 1 - Install the Extension Rod

Select the extension rod according to the diameter of the hole to be measured.

Step 2 - Calibrate to Zero Inside Micrometer

When you have determined which extension rod to use, rotate the thimble until the lines on the main and nonius scales are parallel (at number 0)

Step 3 - Position the Micrometer onto the Measuring Object

Position the inside micrometer to the object to be measured its inside diameter.

Step 4 - Turn the thimble

Turn the thimble until the anvil touches the object to be measured.

Step 5 - Place the Measure Tool onto the Measure Object

Move the inside micrometer to the right and left to ensure the measurement of the inside diameter fits snugly in the middle. while turning the thimble until the anvil presses against the surface of the object being measured.

Step 6 - Turn the Lock

Lock the inside micrometer by turning the lock nut. This is to secure the distance and then you can lift the inside micrometer and take a reading.
